2C : 101 Mask

Phew.... this time we need to make a mask of ourselves. Things are getting harder this time. We're suppose to make 2 mask : 1 is the face of our own, the other with emotion.
At first we face problem in making the mask dry up - I laid down on a hard surface for 4 hours and it didn't dry at all. So the next day we try another method - using pieces of papers and it works. so we manage to do 5 masks and manage to finished everything by today ^^

2B man-made structure : BST in GETTHO 2010

This time, we're going to cut the bamboo and make it into a musical instrument. I've chose to make bamboo shaker as its easier compared to others as i'm really not good in this. anyway, i still manage to make it as nicely as i can. so here's the pic:

Bamboo sense

Last Friday, Mr. Rusli asked us to analyse a picture (a rattan basket) and asked we what we can see, what we can hear and what we can smell. We have to write in one word to describe it. So this is what i've heard, see and smell :

2a natural structure : Bamboo

So, this time, we're supposed to sketch bamboos. I've miss the site visiting due to the meeting among the all-years QS students with our lecturers. But, somehow, we manage to get to the site ourselves and took some pictures of bamboos.We are require to make up stories from our
bamboo sketches too.

Here. we have learned how to sketch and be creative. I believed my schoolmates learned how to sketch fast in the lesson (i've missed it).

1B : Me, My Thoughts and I

This time, we're supposed to suggest how invention may become part of PONDOK or suggest how the invention may contribute to the reconstruction of USM/ Penang after the disaster. Mr. Wan gave us a situation which is a like the movie, 2012, where the whole Penang was covered by water and wont be seeing any land for 40 days. We need to analyze and suggest how the inventions made by USM for the past 6 years to help in this situation.

I don't have any topics as the inventions were not enough, so i had to choose my own topics. I came across this topic - GeoR-Mix. I found that its pretty interestiong so i decided to do this topics.

What I Heard

Its really surprising to know that we have to create a personal website for educational purpose. I didn't expect that we have an assignment on our first class.

Mr. Wan Burhanuddin, one of the studio masters gave us a talk today.

One of the things that he say that gained my attention is about Production. He say, production comes by intention followed by act and finally product. Intention must be carry out by an actor (which is the students of USM). We must act by rules - meaning, follow the rules and finally, there must be somewhere we can place our products. For example, Mr. Wan gave us this assignment, that is designed a blog. So...

1. Intention : Design blog
2. act : Build a blog in blogspot
3. Product: This blog

4. Actor : Me (the student)

5. Rules : No plagiarism
6. Place: Website/Internet

I'm here today because of one intention and that is I want to be someone. And HBP will be where i can reach that as i know from the talks given, i can gain lots of knowledge here and hands on experience on what my field of study is about, not just theories.

Out of curiosity, i do some research at http://www.hbp.usm.my/1b/101/ . I found what i want there - to know more about this Integrated studio and HBP.

Mr Wan also mention that USM is based on 3P - People, Place, Principle.

All the advices given by our studio masters - for example, be on time and be responsible for yourself like attend classes - really useful to all of us. We're no longer in high school where teachers will scold us for our own good, nag us, and so forth. We need to be independent and disciplined.

Overall, the talk today was really innovative and

open up my mind. I've made the right decision to be here today. (n.n)
